This is a painting that I started several years ago in a workshop, that I only finished the first sort of underpainting. I decided to re-work it for part of my Ab/Con Challenge on WetCanvas!. Came up with this one that I’m calling “Solar Wind.” It’s a mix of acrylic inks and watercolor, 22×30 on Strathmore Illustration Board.
This was difficult to photograph because of some of the iridescent paint underneath that shows through in spots. Also some of the acrylic ink I used is thick enough that it reflected light and instead of being a dark red as it is on the painting, the picture looks like a white line (see in the lower left corner).
At this point I think it’s finished, but will wait till I look at it again in a few weeks. May add some little details then, to enhance contrast or details.
