An Abstract Realistic

Sometimes the line between realistic and abstract is blurred, as in this case. Last fall after the killing freezes had come, our garden was ready to be cleaned up–it was strewn with squash vines covering over a lot of things, including leaves.  Of course the first thing I did was take a picture. This is the result that I just finished–in soft pastel.

A lot of this painting is just added from memory and to make a good design, but old dried squash  vines were everywhere, and while it’s realistic, it’s also abstract.

One Response to An Abstract Realistic

Isn’t it funny how we see things? I was driving down the road the other day and saw a broken branch from the recent heavy snow storm we had and immediately thought what I was seeing would make such a cool abstract! Couldn’t get a pic…heavy traffic!

I really like what you’ve done with this one.
